Our favorite interview by Classically Trained

Classically Trained contacted us awhile back to do an interview. He was really taken back by our tribute to bubble bobble and how we managed to cram so much emotion into it all.  Below is the interview, Hans did, a while back with Classically Trained and it’s one of our favorites.  Hope you enjoy

The Interview

Bubble Bobble Tribute

Silver & Bronze winners at BADC Awards

Earlier this year we worked with The Sound PoundJuniorCru and Caleb James to write an original tune for Queensland Health’s Sun Mum.  From that we wrote a new track called “Burn your bits”,  shot a video clip for it and then created several shorts that help people remember the sun safety rules.  Yeah, it was really special!

On the weekend the BADC’s happened and we came out with a Silver for “Sound – Original Compositions/jingles” and 2 Bronze’s for the video clip and the shorts.  OH YEAH!  Collectively all the videos have had a combined viewing of 618,000 and the song was played on national radio!  WERT!

A Massive Big thank you goes to Tyler, Caleb, The JuniorCru and the peeps at Queensland Health for taking a big risk with us!

Tim sneaks a peek at bubble dragon.

Tim won a competition a while back to preview our video clip and track that we are releasing this Monday.  Here is what he had to say!

Soon you’ll get to hear and see what Tim is talking about.  On another note, Tim looks awesome like THOR!  Just saying 😀

#1 for coolness

We entered flappy jam a week back now and just today the results came through.  We did really well overall but got #1 for coolness which we think is really really neat.  If you haven’t had a chance to play it then you can here.

You can also get the music for free 7bithero.bandcamp.com

Music featured in PA – The series

Our music has been placed in Season 4 Episode 1 of PA – The series.  We are pretty chuffed that this has happened and thank Penny Arcade for the love.

The factory prison place (nearly finished)

As we design our first music video game for our next single we want to share our progress.  This is a near final version of a location called “THE FACTORY PRISON PLACE THING” (name might change).  We are going to place it on a floating island and maybe put a reception area with a car park out the front.  Soon you’ll be able to work hard in there and earn a crust and maybe have some fun. ENJOY!

Updated band image

As we start the new year I wanted to update the video game band image to reflect the new look.  The big difference is we’ve decided to go into that awkward 90’s / 00’s look.  Where polygons got a little bit better but still not quite good (or something like that :P). Hit us up if you think we should do some wall papers and even iOS / Android stuffs.

It’ll be awhile before we update the concert game to reflect this look too.  As you may know we are an indie company and we do all this in our other spare time so things take a little longer to cycle through but we will get there!

Pete gets the emotions

Who’s pete?  I’m glad you asked.  He is a very talented animator!  We have a close circle of friends that we hand our work too to see if we can make any improvements and he is was one of them.  This is what he had to say about our upcoming bubble bobble tribute.  v0.1 ^_^

We were going for emotions so although this made us sad it also made us happy that we can string together a nice little story about the whole thing.

Scott approves of our bubble bobble cover

Thank you scott for having nice things to say but also for typing your thoughts out for us to turn into a little comic.  Yeah!

We’ll be releasing this very very very very soon!

Sqwaare Sownds

I had an hour spare last night and decided to express my feelings about the Square Sounds Festival Pozible campaign through a 3-channel chiptune music piece!

They NEARLY have enough money but not quite. I really hope this song reflects this happy but also sad moment.  If they make their goal, I will write a victory tune with such fanfare that you well may experience the giddies!

Illiens can point?

Here is how an illien will point to an object that it wants or tell you where it wants to go. Because its hands and feet are so small, it uses telepathy to communicate.  In this instance, it will jump into the air, turn to the object or destination, and fire a thought-beam at it.

When watching this, you’ll have to imagine the turn and the thought-beam, as they get added later in engine.

Landing on your face is F-U-N!

Tonight took way longer then expected.  Still trying to get everything set up so I can capture what I’m doing to show you guys.  I thought I was going to record it to my phone, but there is ghosting… so I might do a capture instead.  Below is the landing animation.

I wanted the illien to land on his face.  Then it would flip up to let you know it was alright and then shake off the dirt.  The dirt will be added later in another engine. (Psst – that’s the surprise I’m not talking about just yet).

I also made changes to the eyes after all the feedback I got on facebook.  Thanks, guys.  Hope you enjoy the slow blink where the eyes blink at different speeds.  I love how it makes them look just a little S-L-O-W.

I’ll be doing more of these each night, and it’ll get a little more detailed.  Yay!

Starting the start.

Hey! So I’m going to expose some of my workflow to you.  I’m not going to talk about what it is for just yet… (It’s a surprise!) …but let me take you on an hour-long journey.  Journ-eeeeeey! Tonight I’m doing some animation.  (WHAT?!) I drew a nice little character for the surprise *wink*.  I’m going to call it… Illien.

Then I modeled it up in 3DS Max, which is my favourite program, but you can use all the others as well (which I think autodesk own .. right? :P)

Now, let’s do some animations. Falling is the first one, so I want it to scream and have its ears flapping. So let’s do the animation before working on its adorbs face.

It needs some clean-up, but I gave myself 1 hour to do the whole thing, so let’s move on to the face.

It may not work, but this made me laugh. It’s like… streaky and ARGH. Let’s put it together.

Arrrrr! Arrrrr!

Yah.  Now tomorrow I’ll look over it again and see if I like it, and then I’ll move on to other things in the animation list.  Hope to have this coming together by the weekend.  Wish me luck!

PAX was incredible, and I have some memories that I’ll share in drawing form over the next few weeks.

On this day I made a memory I wish I could undo.  We decided to wander out of the grounds to purchase a delicious food product. What a mistake.  What a mistake. #whatamistake

PAXAus had some amazing food.  Anyone try the tacos?!?!  I will learn this for next time.

We are touring around a bit now, and I have a feeling snare and keys are not going to come with us anymore.  I’m not going to point fingers at airlines .. O_O

Both instruments were not hurt during this trip, but they do sound a little sadder.

Finalists at the QMAs

Sometimes it’s hard to explain in words how I feel.  So I drew this simple thing.

Our track “Come on. Stand out.” is a finalist in the pop category in the Queensland Music Awards. Special note to all the awesome people in the pop category: it’s going to be a tough one to decide.

7bit Hero to play at Pax

Do you dream about going to PAX?  I do.  So when it was announced that it would be here in Australia, I was pretty excited.

As fate dishes out things, like it does all the time, I was a little late to booking tickets, and it was sold out.

But then fate had other ideas.

I would like to thank PAX Australia for asking 7bit Hero to play.  It certainly is rainbow fate.

an especially inspired pickup from PAX AUS. . . tell me there isn’t a more “PAX” band than this one.
